Buying a car is always exciting. A car can be very personal, so getting into a new one is making a significant lifestyle change. That’s one of the reasons it’s important to make the right choice. No matter what kind of vehicle you currently drive, if you drive at all, you want to make sure your car purchase is one you’ll be happy with for a long time. Be sure to think ahead when planning to buy a car.

New cars have a number of advantages over used cars. They’re more likely to last longer and usually drive better for the time you own them. They come with warranties, so you can get the most serious work done on them as long as they’re under warranty. They also happen to be brand new, and they look like it. Used cars have some advantages, too. Cars are depreciating assets. When you purchase a new car, it quickly loses value. Used cars tend to depreciate less since they have already depreciated when they are sold. Of course, they’re considerably cheaper than new cars, even though they function the same way as the new cars.

Make sure you are getting the car that fits your lifestyle, not only now, but for the near future as well. If you’re planning on settling down in a year or two, it would be silly to buy a new two-seater now unless you have a lot of money to spare. Save a step and buy something that better suits your life going forward. You will still have plenty of options. You could get a wagon or hatchback, a sedan of various sizes, or an SUV. If you want gas economy you could go with a compact coupe or sedan. Just be sure to think your options through before making this all important decision.
